Philadelphia Eagles' Quarterback Michael Vick left the game against the Washington Redskins in the first quarter. This followed a hard hit from two of the Redskins' defenders. So far the quarterback has received a number of tests, including X-Rays of his ribs. Those results came back negative. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI to determine if the he has suffered any major damage after reports leaked out that Vick was having a lot of discomfort in his back.

Vick ran for 23 yards before he was sandwiched between Redskins' Kareem Moore and DeAngelo Hall. It was obvious that he had been hurt as he was very slow to return to his feet. Then, despite his 23 yard run, it was erased when a holding penalty was called against guard Max Jean-Gilles. Vick declined to speak to the media. Eagles' coach Andy Reid said, "He's got a sore chest is what I can tell you right now."

When Vick was taken to the locker room he was replaced by Kevin Kolb. However, the Redskins went on to a 17-12 win. It was obvious that Kolb did not have nearly enough dynamics against the defense of the Redskins. Although Kolb was once looked upon as a great prospect for the future his play did not show that in the game. There are already rumors that he might be replaced before 2011. This is a real change since Kolb was the No. 1 QB when the season opened. Kolb was replaced by Vick, in the season opener, after Kolb suffered a concussion.

Vick proved himself to be an outstanding quarterback. He threw for 750 yards of passing. He had six successful touchdowns with no interceptions. Vick also ran for 170 yards, with one score, during ten quarters. These statistics earned him the NFC offensive player of the month. Vick was five for seven in 49 yards of passing against the Redskins. He also rushed three times for a total of 17 yards.

Vick was also named as a three time Pro Bowl quarterback during his six seasons with Atlanta. He missed the next two seasons after serving an 18 month sentence in federal prison. This was a result of his role in a dogfighting operation. This has led him to tour schools to speak out against dogfighting. This has made him a fan hero in Philadelphia.

This also marked Donovan McNabb's return to the Eagles as a result of an offseason trade. One fan held a sign that read, "Goodbye McNabb, Hello Vick-tory!"
